Typical Comprehensive Labs Explained

CBC (Comprehensive Blood count):

This is a comprehensive blood test to look at overall health, anemia, infection and leukemia.

It looks at Red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic panel)

This is looking at your chemical balances, electrolytes, metabolism and kidney function, liver function, and blood sugar.

Lipid Panel

This is looking at the fats in your body (triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL, LDL.)It's measured to screen for cardiocascular diseases

Thyroid Panel

This is looking at your thyroid, which is involved in numerous functions including; metabolism, mental health, weight management, growth, development, body temperature, digestion and more.

HbA1c

This is looking at your thyroid, which is involved in numerous functions including; metabolism, mental health, weight management, growth, development, body temperature, digestion and more.

Cortisol

Cortisol is your "stress hormone " that affects almost every tissue in your body.

It helps your body: Respond to stress, Reduce inflammation, Regulate blood sugar and metabolism, and control blood pressure.

Testosterone (Free and Total)

Total testosterone test measures free testosterone and testosterone that's attached to proteins.

Free testosterone test measures only the "active" form of testosterone in your body.

Progesterone

Progesterone is one of the two main important hormones for women’s reproductive health. It is important to be properly balanced with estrogen. Progesterone has numerous roles including being our "Relax" hormone, and is involved in regulating cycles and supporting pregnancy, among others. Imbalances can affect weight gain, insomnia, anxiety, PMS, depression and migraines.

Estrogen

Estrogen (Estradiol (E2) is most commonly tested) is an important regulator of reproductive and non-reproductive function in both men and women. It is involved in sexual development, lipid metabolism, bone heatlh, body weight regulation, immunity and cardiovascular health.

SHBG

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin is a protein made in the liver. It binds to sex hormones in your blood. When the SHBG protein binds to sex hormones (specifically estrogen and testosterone), your tissues can't use those hormones. It's important to look at this marker as this could be a reason for symptoms.

DHEA-S (Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate)

DHEA-S is a male sex hormone that is found in both men and women. DHEAS is important for making testosterone and estrogen.

Iron Panel

Iron panel is looking at:

  • Serum iron test, which measures the amount of iron in the blood

  • Transferrin test, which measures transferrin, a protein that moves iron throughout the body

  • Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), which measures how well iron attaches to transferrin and other proteins in the blood

Ferritin

Ferritin measures how much iron is stored in the body.

Too little ferritin: Not enough iron storage

Too much ferritin: Indicates low grade inflammation

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is important for:

Teeth

Immune support

Muscles

Nerves
